WE CAN COOL WINE IN DIFFERENT WAYS
There are still a few hot days to go before the end of summer. Especially during the summer heat, wine lovers have to deal with the problem of properly cooling their wine. Maintaining the correct serving temperature of wine during the summer is practically impossible. Here are some tips on how to achieve and maintain properly chilled wines.
Refrigerator
The fridge is your best friend during the summer. Even for red wine. If the room temperature is around 21°C, leave the red wine in the fridge for 15 minutes before serving. White and rosé wines will need about an hour to reach a serving temperature of around 10°C.
Ice bucket
If you want to enjoy wine during the heat, you need to have a bucket full of ice on hand. If you don't have ice, a bucket of cold water will work even better. The ice in the bucket will work even better if you add salt. Fresh water cannot drop below 0°C without freezing completely. However, adding a little salt can help keep the water temperature low, which will help cool your wine faster.
Wine coolers
A more sophisticated version of an ice bucket is an automated wine cooler. It's like a small refrigerator in the shape of a bucket and will keep one or two bottles at the right temperature.
Ice cubes
An unconventional tip is to freeze the wine in a “wine ice cube”. You can then add this cube to a warmer wine. However, you need to be careful to have the same wine in the “wine ice cube” as you are serving it with.
Bunch of grapes
You can also smooth out wine by using a frozen bunch of grapes. This way you won't risk diluting the wine.
Freezer
Some winemakers believe that chilling wine in the freezer is dangerous. However, this is not true. All you need to do is time the wine in the freezer correctly. If you want a slightly chilled wine, just leave it in the freezer for 15 minutes. If you want it to be really chilled, leave it in the freezer for half an hour.
