Villa Vino Rača red wines come from the Rača vineyards on the southern slopes of the Little Carpathians, where warm sunlight, weathered granite bedrock and a long autumn shape red varieties with full body, deep colour and clear fruit character. The range includes 12 red wines with Blaufränkisch (Frankovka modrá), Dunaj, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alibernet and Saint Laurent across the Exclusive, Excellence, Palugyay and Grand Vin collections.
Blaufränkisch (Frankovka modrá) is the iconic wine of Rača. Rača is historically known as the capital of Slovak Blaufränkisch. Maria Theresa was known to favour Rača Blaufränkisch, and in the 18th century she granted a decree allowing the wine to be served at the Viennese imperial court. Villa Vino Rača continues this tradition with 19 Blaufränkisch wines across all collections, including Blaufränkisch from Rača Exclusive, Blaufränkisch Excellence and Palugyay Blaufränkisch Ice Wine.
Dunaj and other red varieties
Dunaj is a Slovak red variety bred at the Nitra research station in 1958. Villa Vino Rača produces several Dunaj wines including Dunaj Exclusive, which won Double Gold at the Sakura Awards 2026 in Japan, gold at the Prague Wine Trophy 2025 and silver at AWC Vienna 2025. Alongside Dunaj and Blaufränkisch, the range includes Cabernet Sauvignon Exclusive, Alibernet Exclusive, Saint Laurent (Svätovavrinecké) Exclusive and the premium Grand Vin line.
Hand harvest and oak maturation
Grapes for red wines are mostly hand-harvested and sorted on sorting tables, ensuring only perfectly ripe berries are processed. Part of the red wine range matures in oak barrels, gaining depth, velvety texture and refined tannin tones. The Excellence and Grand Vin lines go through longer maturation and are built for cellaring.

Dry red wines pair well with steak, grilled meats, game, roasts and aged cheeses. Blaufränkisch suits dark meats, braised game and traditional Slovak cuisine. Dunaj works well with grilled steak and dark chocolate desserts. Cabernet Sauvignon handles spicier dishes and marinades.
