Which wine for the Easter table?
Easter is about getting together. About the smell of ham that has been cooking since morning, lamb roasting in the oven, spring salads that have finally returned to the table. And above all, about the people around: parents, siblings, children, in-laws.
Wine at such a table is not just a drink. It is the full stop at the end of the sentence: “Today we will make time for each other.”
But which wine to choose? Lamb calls for something different than ham, and salads for something else entirely. And what if someone at the table doesn’t drink regular wine? No problem. We’ll help you out.
Wine for lamb
Roast lamb is the finest holiday on a plate. The meat is richer, more fragrant, with a delicate herb crust. That is why it needs a wine that won’t drown it out, but won’t disappear next to it either.
Exclusive Rizling rýnsky is made for this occasion. It is a dry, mineral wine with the characteristic freshness of the Little Carpathians. On the palate it stays clean and spicy. Exactly what you want with roast lamb. They don’t overpower each other — they complement each other perfectly.
If you prefer a fuller-bodied wine, reach for Exclusive Chardonnay. It is more complex, with a gently creamy character, and will hold its own even with a richer sauce. Chardonnay from our vineyards in Rača ripens slowly, and you can tell in the glass.
Wine for ham
Easter ham is a different world from lamb — less fat, more salt, and a bolder flavour profile. It needs a wine that will fight it for attention. And win.
Exclusive Veltlínske zelené is our number one recommendation for ham. It is dry, with a spicy finish and a pleasant acidity that cuts through the saltiness of the ham and refreshes every bite. A traditional variety that is at home in the Little Carpathians.
For those who prefer a fresher, more aromatic character, we recommend Exclusive Sauvignon. Its grapefruit and herbal notes combined with a bold acidity do exactly what they should with ham. Spring in a glass, literally.
Wine for spring salads
Salads return to the Easter table after winter like old friends — light, spring-like, full of colour. Spring onion, eggs, radishes, fresh vegetables deserve a wine that won’t overpower them.
Exclusive Irsai Oliver is perfect for this. An aromatic white wine with floral and peach notes, light, fresh, and simply pleasant. Customers love it because it doesn’t need much explaining — just pour and enjoy.
Exclusive Dunaj rosé is our favourite rosé wine. It is off-dry, with a fruity character, and pairs perfectly with spring salads. For guests who can’t decide between white and red, rosé is always the right choice.
For those who don’t drink regular wine
At every celebration there is someone who says: “I don’t really drink wine.” This is the moment when you can pull out a bottle they might not have reached for themselves — but won’t regret.
Cisárska Ribessa is our fruit wine made from blackcurrants. It is not made from grapes, and that is exactly why people who usually “don’t drink wine” enjoy it gladly. It is gently sweet, fruity, and light.
Frizzante (Irsai Oliver or Cabernet Sauvignon rosé) with gentle bubbles. This sparkling wine feels festive while remaining easy-going.
A gift for hosts
Going to your parents’ or in-laws’ for Easter? Don’t show up empty-handed. A bottle of wine is still one of the most appreciated gifts — but only if chosen wisely.
Palugyay Chardonnay and Frankovka modrá is a premium pair of white and red wine in a gift set. Two styles, two occasions, one thoughtful gesture. Palugyay is our premium edition — a name that carries a piece of history in Rača.
For an elegant gift, choose the set Exclusive Rizling rýnsky and Račianska Frankovka. Two traditional Little Carpathian varieties, two bottles, one big thank you.
