Great success in Japan: Our Dunaj won the prestigious Double Gold award at the Sakura Awards 2026
The Villa Vino Rača winery has once again confirmed its world-class status on the Asian continent, winning two important awards at the 13th edition of the prestigious international competition SAKURA Japan Women's Wine Awards 2026 .
Thousands of samples under the supervision of experts
This year's judging took place on February 3 in Osaka and February 6 in Tokyo . The expert jury, made up of 430 judges – leading women in the Japanese wine sector – faced an extremely difficult task. In a fierce competition of 3,715 wine samples from 37 countries around the world , they searched for the best wines that define quality and harmony.
Our winning wines
We are extremely proud that our wines did not lose out in such strong international competition, on the contrary:
- 🥇 Grand Vin Dunaj 2021 won a big gold medal (Double Gold) . Only 274 of the best wines from around the world received this award, which places our Dunaj among the absolute elite of the competition.
- 🥈 Exclusive Svätovavrinecké 2021 takes home a silver medal from the competition, confirming the stability and high standard of our production.
Tradition in modern dress
The SAKURA AWARDS competition also reflects the latest trends, such as low-alcohol or aromatized wines, but the core of success remains honest winemaking. For Villa Vino Rača, success in Japan is confirmation that our path focused on quality and precise grape processing also makes sense on the global market.
This success is also a beautiful gift for us for the upcoming International Women's Day , as the victory of our wines was decided by the most skilled female taste buds and refined taste of Japanese sommeliers and oenologists.
