Red Cuvée Trilógia: Dunaj and two Cabernets
Three varieties stand behind Red Cuvée Trilógia: Dunaj, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. With red wine, blending makes the most sense in structure and tannins.
What each variety brings
Dunaj, a Slovak variety, gives the wine bold power and chocolate notes. Cabernet Sauvignon brings firm fruit structure and the tannins that give the wine its frame. Cabernet Franc softens it with spicy elegance. The two Cabernets also share an origin: Cabernet Sauvignon arose from a cross of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, so in this bottle a variety stands beside its own offspring. What emerges is a full dry red.
How to serve it
This wine is served at 16 to 18 °C, noticeably below normal room temperature. Red wine that is too warm feels heavy and the alcohol pushes forward. If the bottle has been standing somewhere warm, put it in the fridge for 15 to 20 minutes.
Air helps the wine too. If you decant it before serving, or at least open the bottle a little earlier, the tannins loosen and the wine opens up. At the table this is a wine for meat: for beef, for lamb, for game, for the grill and for mature cheeses.
Who it is for
Red Cuvée Trilógia is for those who like a dry red with structure but also want a wine they can drink today rather than in ten years. It suits a hearty dinner and a long evening with friends.
Red Cuvée Trilógia is part of the Trilógia range from Villa Vino Rača. You will find it in our online shop. More about what a cuvée is and why winemakers blend varieties.
