Gold and Silver for Račianska Frankovka at the Inaugural European Red & Rosé Wine Contest 2026

In March 2026, Strasbourg hosted the first-ever European Red & Rosé Wine Contest. We came home from the inaugural edition with two medals: gold and silver. Both for wines from a single grape variety, from a single place.

Gold went to the Exclusive Račianska Frankovka rosé 2025, a dry quality branded wine.

Silver went to the Exclusive Račianska Frankovka 2021, likewise a dry quality branded red.

A new competition in a city known for white wine

Since 1998, Strasbourg has been home to Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg, a competition dedicated entirely to white wines. It carries the patronage of OIV, VINOFED, and UIOE, and is one of Europe's most respected events for white wine production.

In 2026, a sister event joins it: the European Red & Rosé Wine Contest. The same jury, the same methodology, the same environment. But a new category. Red and rosé wines.

For Slovak winemaking, this means another high-level international platform where our reds and rosés come under the scrutiny of professional judges from across Europe. And we were there from the first edition.

Why Račianska Frankovka

Račianska Frankovka is our own line, named after its place of origin. All grapes come exclusively from our Rača vineyards, which we farm ourselves. It is Frankovka (Blaufränkisch) from a specific vineyard, a specific slope, a specific Rača terroir.

That is why we named it after Rača.

Two medals in Strasbourg are not a coincidence. The slopes, soil character, and microclimate of Rača suit Frankovka well. A jury of international oenologists confirmed it twice over in blind tasting.

The winning wines

Gold: Exclusive Račianska Frankovka rosé 2025, quality branded, dry

An elegant wine with a delicate pink colour. Aromas of elderflower, forest berries, and raspberry. The palate is juicy and complex, with fresh acidity that lifts the fruit.

Ideal with summer dishes, grilled vegetables, light fish, or as an aperitif. A wine made for drinking young, at a cool serving temperature of 8 to 10 °C.

Silver: Exclusive Račianska Frankovka 2021, quality branded, dry

A premium Frankovka with a Rača pedigree. It comes from our best Rača vineyards. Deep ruby in colour, with aromas of cinnamon, small berries, and plum. Firm structure, harmonious acidity and tannins, light smoky notes.

Pairs well with red meat, game, and aged cheese. Will reward several years of ageing. Serve at 16 to 18 °C.
