Young wines can now be sold
Slovak winemakers can now officially sell Mladé víno for a week. That is, wine that they produced in the same calendar year in which the grapes were harvested. The Wine Act clearly states that Mladé víno is prohibited from being placed on the market in bottles before the first Monday in November.
Young wine is the first harbinger of what the new vintage will bring after the burčiak. Winemakers say that young wines are full of flavor, fresh and can intoxicate, but they are still immature. Young wines can be combined very well with many dishes. They are suitable, for example, with roasted goose, the season of which is currently at its peak.
Both large and small wineries are getting into the production of Mladý vín, which our Czech brothers call Svätomartinské. For them, it is a welcome source of quick income at a time when this year's wine will still be maturing in barrels for a few more months.
