Article: Winemakers are sounding the alarm

Winemakers are sounding the alarm

The corona crisis is not bypassing our winemakers either. The Winemakers and Winegrowers Guild of Slovakia has made it clear that most Slovak winegrowers exhausted their savings, loans and financial resources in mid-November and do not expect the situation to improve in the foreseeable future. "Due to the ongoing government measures in catering establishments, sales of Slovak wine are reaching historically low levels," the guild said. It pointed out that Slovak winegrowers and winemakers have not received any COVID support to date.

That is why winemakers launched the initiative #PatiokPoctivehoSlovenskehoVina. On Friday, we should all buy Slovak wine to save our winemakers.

By buying Slovak wines, you also help preserve the historical heritage of our ancestors. Vineyards were planted here as far back as the ancient Romans. Historical records say that Maria Theresa received a Blaufränkisch from the Rača delegation as a gift on the occasion of her fiftieth birthday. The empress liked the Rača wine so much that from then on she wished to always have Blaufränkisch from Rača in her cellars.

You can also order Blaufränkisch from Rača online at www.villavinoraca.sk
