Two Grand Gold and six Gold medals from the Danube Wine Challenge 2026
From the twelfth edition of one of the strictest and most prestigious international wine competitions in the world, the Danube Wine Challenge, we are bringing home two Grand Gold and six Gold medals.
World-class quality on Slovak soil
This year's competition was again held at Chateau Belá. The Danube Wine Challenge holds a special place in the wine world. As the only competition in Central Europe, it is held under the strict patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and the International Union of Oenologists (UIŒ).

At the 12th edition, an elite group of fifty top judges from four continents gathered. In strictly anonymous tastings they assessed a record of almost 700 samples from 11 countries.
What makes the competition exceptional
Winning an award here is not a given. The competition's reputation rests on several pillars:
- Strict medal limit: under OIV rules, no more than 30% of entered wines can receive an award. Gold and Grand Gold therefore go only to the genuine top.
- Complete objectivity: the judges come mostly from abroad. They receive each sample with only the vintage and wine category, with no mention of origin or producer. They focus solely on clarity, colour, aroma and taste.
- A celebration of Central European craft: although the competition is open to the whole world, its mission is to highlight the quality of wines from the countries the Danube flows through. Slovak wines compete directly with, and often surpass, well-known global names.
